About Us

TIMRON PRECISION GEAR was founded 1989 by Ron Fritz and Tim Corpe. The partners had been VPs at Summit Gear, Inc. A recognized supplier of aerospace products and computer hardware to companies such as Boeing. When Summit’s focus shifted away from the aerospace gear-related business and into general manufacturing, Ron and Tim saw a void to be filled. They rolled up their sleeves and dove into the small business world. They were dedicated to providing excellent quality and competitive pricing specifically to the precision aerospace industries. Though they had no facilities, machines, employees or even customers, but they did have a goal! So they rented a 4,000 sq. ft. facility and hired 2 employees and Timron Precision Gear opened its doors.

In 1993, Timron outgrew the original building and constructed a 15,000 sq. ft. facility in Elk River which opened in June of that year. In 2001, after 12 years of business, Ron and Tim handed the business off to the next generation. Kevin Corpe, Tim’s son, Jim Fritz, Ron’s son, and Jon Grunewald, Ron’s son-in-law purchased the business and assumed operational control. In 2019 Jim and Kevin became Co-owners.

Timron remains committed to the same ideals that Tim and Ron instilled at the very beginning providing high quality and competitively priced gears targeted for the aerospace industry. Through capital investment in modern, industry-leading technology and equipment and employee training, Timron has continued to flourish. In 2019, Timron celebrated its 30th Anniversary and has grown to over 40 employees. Timron continues to add the latest and greatest gear cutting and grinding equipment. Our most recent purchases have included automation to increase our capacity while still focusing on the rigorous quality and delivery standards that our customers have come to expect.
